FAQ

I have a problem giving an iPad to one of my children and not the other two, any suggestions?

The iPad is the core technology for the Year 7 student at school and should be viewed as a necessary school purchase. The use of the iPad as a personal entertainment device by members of the family at home is entirely a family decision.

What happens when an iPad is damaged?

Leading Edge Computers is the Apple service centre in Port Macquarie and offers a one week turn around on repairs. Willful damage will be addressed as per normal school policy and procedure.

What will happen if my child doesn’t have the iPad at school?

The expectation is for all students to have their iPad available for all lessons. The only exception would be if the iPad is being repaired in which case a note explaining this should be written in the student diary. Similar to the situation where a student forgets a textbook the child would be encouraged to use the best means necessary to achieve the outcomes of the lesson. To this end, students should always carry some spare paper and pens.

Will there be charging stations at school?

No. The battery on the iPad lasts 10 hours under normal use. Students will be expected to charge the iPad each night and there will be no need to charge at school.

What connectivity restrictions will occur at school and will this be the same at home?

When connected to the school network the internet will be filtered through the school’s proxy server and Zscaler. No restrictions exist at home unless set up by individual families.

Problem solvers

It is often stated many careers that students entering high school will pursue in their working life do not exist yet! Our students need to be independant learners and problem solvers to cope with the many challenges ahead.

Adaptability

The only constant in life is change. This is especially true in education. Those who can adapt to a changing environment, whether that be school, work or leisure, will be best equipped to lead a fulfilling life,
