FAQ

I don’t feel comfortable with my child having an iTunes account or knowing my account details. How do I enable Apps to be placed on the device?

You, the parent, must be the guardian of the iTunes account (children under 13 are not allowed to setup an Apple ID). For any purchases made you will receive an invoice by email. This way you can keep track of purchases. Apple now has FAMILY SHARING in iOS8 and above where one family member can manage up to five other members so they can share apps, music, photos, calendars across all devices. Refer to the Tips page of this site for more detail.

Do Apps need to be downloaded at home?

Yes, Apps shoul be downloaded at home. If a lot of students try to download apps at school, the volume of traffic will adversely affect our internet speed and may even cause our network to crash.

I don’t have WiFi at home? Will I need to get this? How much will this cost?

It would be most beneficial to have WiFi at home. Consult with your current internet provider about installing a WiFi modem. The library is open from 7.30am  to 4.15pm each day and students can access WiFi before or after school each day if necessary.

How about a drawing tablet and stylus pen so students can write and draw, like on paper?

The iPad is a tablet and students can supply themselves with a stylus pen. The Notability app allows students to take digital notes by writing and/or drawing with the stylus pen or finger.

Problem solvers

It is often stated many careers that students entering high school will pursue in their working life do not exist yet! Our students need to be independant learners and problem solvers to cope with the many challenges ahead.

Adaptability

The only constant in life is change. This is especially true in education. Those who can adapt to a changing environment, whether that be school, work or leisure, will be best equipped to lead a fulfilling life,

Creativity

Rather than passive consumers of information students will become active creators of information. We see this now with blogs, wikis, web 2 access and social networking. The digital age has empowered us to be more creative and critical thinkers.
